Mouthful

About

Who's writing this, and why

Short version: we sell an oral care product, we publish this anyway, and we tell you both facts on every page rather than hoping you don't find out.

Who publishes Mouthful

Mouthful is published by OralAdvance Labs, the company behind CariSpray. That's a real commercial interest and it doesn't disappear because we mention it.

What we do about it: any article that mentions our own product says so inside the article, not in small print at the bottom. If something else in a category is better, we say that instead. A publication that recommends its owner's product every time is an advertisement, and everyone can tell.

Where the quotes come from

Almost everything here starts with something a real person wrote in public — on Reddit, in threads where people were talking to each other rather than to a brand.

We read 85,740 comments across 40 communities and kept the sentences that said something true. Those quotes appear here word for word. We don't fix the typos, we don't tidy the grammar, and we don't merge two people into one convenient sentence. If a quote reads a bit rough, that's because a tired person typed it at midnight, which is the point.

What we don't do

  • We don't say a product "prevents cavities" or treats anything. Ours is a cosmetic product and that line matters.
  • We don't write "we tested this" unless we actually tested it.
  • We don't publish a health claim we can't point to a source for.
  • We don't tell you that you should have brushed. You know.

This isn't medical advice

It's general information, written carefully, with sources where sources exist. If something in your mouth hurts, changes, or won't heal, that's a dentist — not an article.

Getting something wrong

If we've published something inaccurate, tell us and we'll correct it and say that we did. Corrections stay visible on the page rather than quietly disappearing.
